A covetable double-LP, it's the sort of music with quiet hooks you might find yourself humming later, and if you'd heard it in the day in a record shop, you might not know whom to ask for. It's kind of subtle playing, and not what blues usually makes you think of. (Not all of these tunes are blues.) Not as muscular, not as given to extreme bends and hammers-on, a Britarist perhaps as Jansch or Davy Graham, Renbourn was more pastoral and gentle. Also hear his The Lady and the Unicorn.
